After a couple of good tasks on Saturday morning, Team Jester showed up on the
leader board at 11th place. The first task was a Fly-In-Task to the main
launch field with the second task at the airport. After flying toward the
North-Northwest to the first task, we found there was no way to get to the
second task without a large shift in wind direction. With no low winds
that could take you to the second task we went for some altitude and found a
current at about 6,000 ft that was moving to the South. After a rapid
decent we were able to cruise into the target at about 500 ft for a respectable
drop and a spectacular flight path on the map board. Sunday morning tasks
included a Fly-In-Task and a Multiple Judge Declared goal. With no way to
make the second target, all the pressure was on the first task. Team
Jester was the first one to cruise across the 'X' with a great marker drop of 14
inches. Unfortunately, almost everyone in the top 10 from Saturday also
performed well and with an almost perfect task we were only able to move up one
spot to 10th place.
Thanks to all the staff, volunteers, crew, and spectators that make this event a
great one to attend.
